  • Family Link will automatically capture data required by National for programmatic funding. While eventually, Affiliates receiving funding from the national office will need to use Family Link to report data for grant compliance, the great news is that this will relieve Affiliates of a significant reporting burden going forward.

  • By default, the system will support all core programs currently recognized by Family Promise National. These include:

    • Eviction Prevention

    • Shelter Diversion

    • Housing Programs (like Rapid Rehousing, Permanent Housing, Permanent Supportive Housing, etc.)

    • Stabilization Services

    • Emergency Shelter Services (like outreach, static, rotational, scattered, transitional)

Affiliates will have the flexibility to customize their user interface by showing or hiding specific programs as needed. Additionally, they will have the ability to add custom services both during the onboarding phase and throughout their ongoing use of the platform.

  • Yes, National will provide both training and technical support throughout the entire rollout. A dedicated project team will lead training sessions, offer learning resources, and provide tools to ensure a smooth transition.  Technical support will be available for troubleshooting.

  • We know double data entry is frustrating—and Affiliates often ask why Family Link doesn’t integrate directly with HMIS. The short answer: it’s not a technical limitation, it’s a political one.

While HMIS is a national standard, each region has its own lead agency managing it—and the rules and systems vary widely. Family Link could build custom APIs, but most HMIS systems currently don’t allow third-party integrations. We're keeping a close eye on this space and plan to engage in those conversations over time—especially as we strengthen our own data quality and impact story. The National Alliance to End Homelessness has acknowledged it’s an issue worth solving.

In the meantime, our focus is on building a high-quality, easy-to-use platform with features and insights HMIS doesn’t offer. As we build that foundation, we’ll be in a stronger position to advocate for integration.

  • Family Promise National recognizes the importance of preserving high-quality and relevant historical data. While data migration may be complex due to varying data formats across Affiliates, the project team is working to identify feasible migration options. Affiliates will be presented with available solutions based on their data types and volumes during the onboarding process.

  • Yes. While default reports will be provided with a goal of covering most of Affiliates’ needs, Family Link will also provide Affiliates with the flexibility to export their raw data and create any custom reports needed for their specific funding sources.

  • No.  Family Link is a case management system, designed to help Affiliates administer core programs and collect data regarding those programs.  It will not replace your existing donor management system.

The national office has partnered with Bloomerang, a leading donor and volunteer management software, to offer Affiliates an exclusive discounted rate. Discover more about this valuable benefit of Affiliation here.https://affiliates.familypromise.org/resources/partnerships/

  • Absolutely! Affiliate feedback is crucial to the continuous evolution of Family Link. The project team will host training sessions before and during onboarding to gather input and ensure readiness. Additionally, we’ll conduct workshops and best practice forums. Affiliates will be able to submit feedback and request help via an online support app, and regular updates will be shared through email, the Community site, and in collaboration with regional directors.
